Editorial Policy
This policy explains how 8171 Web chooses sources, writes pages, and fixes mistakes. You can hold us to it. If we fall short, please tell us.
Our purpose
We help people understand the BISP 8171 eligibility check. We do not report news, and we do not give financial or legal advice. Every page should answer one practical question and point you to an official channel for the final answer.
Sources we trust, in order
- The official BISP website and the 8171 portal.
- Public notices from BISP.
- Guidance from the national identity authority, for questions about CNIC cards.
- News reports and other guide sites. We use these as leads only and never as proof.
When sources disagree, the higher one on this list wins. If none of them settles the point, we leave it out.
How we handle numbers
A number appears on this site only when an official source states it. Payment amounts, cutoff scores, and dates change often, so we skip them unless we can confirm them and show a review date. Fixed facts are fine. A CNIC has 13 digits, and the SMS code is 8171.
How we write
We write at about a grade 3 to grade 8 reading level. Sentences stay short, and we avoid jargon. When a term like “proxy means test” matters, we explain it once, in simple words. Urdu lines are added for key warnings and steps.
We keep facts and opinions apart. A fact states what BISP says. An opinion, such as a tip to wait before you resend an SMS, is written as advice.
Updates and reviews
Each page shows its last review date. We review the homepage and the tool page at least every 90 days. We also review them after any BISP notice that changes the process. If a review changes nothing, we still update the date to show that we checked.
Corrections
Send errors to contact@8171web.com or use the contact page. We aim to reply within a week. If the report is right, we fix the page and update its date. If it is not, we explain why.
Independence
Nobody pays us to change what we write about BISP. We do not sell eligibility services, we do not work with agents, and we have no tie to any government body. Read the disclaimer for the full statement.
The tool
The CNIC tool checks format only. It does not link to a BISP database, and it does not save what you type. We tested it for typing slips, missing digits, and pasted numbers before release.
